    Dear Users,

We are aware of the issue affecting some usersand it appears to be frequently connected with Microsoft Family Safety settings. Please try the following solutions to resolve the problem.

Solution 1: Check Microsoft Family Safety Settings
The most common cause for this issue is Opera being unintentionally blocked by Microsoft Family Safety. You can check and change this setting by following these steps:

    1. Go to the Microsoft Family Safety website: https://familysafety.microsoft.com/ or open the Family Safety mobile app.
    2. Sign in and select the user profile that is having the issue.
    3. You have three options to fix this:
Option A (Recommended): Go to the Apps and games tab and find Opera. If it is listed as blockedselect Unblock to allow it.
Option B: Under the Content filters tabfind and disable the setting for "Filter inappropriate websites".
Option C: (suggested by Microsoft): turn on the 'Activity reporting' feature under Windows settings in Microsoft Family Safetywhich will allow parents to receive approval requests as expected.

Solution 2: Sign Out and Back In to Your Windows Account
A simple refresh of your user session can sometimes resolve permission issues:

    1. Open the Windows Start Menu.
    2. Click on your profile picture or name (usually in the bottom-left corner).
    3. Click "Sign out".
    4. Once signed outsign back into your Windows account and try launching Opera again.

Solution 3: Temporarily Rename the Opera Executable
This is a workaround that has helped some users force Windows to re-evaluate the application.

    1. Find your Opera shortcut on the desktop.
    2. Right-click the shortcut and select "Open file location". This will open a folder containing the opera.exe file.
    3. Right-click on opera.exe and choose "Rename".
    4. Rename it to something differentfor exampleopera1.exe.
    5. Try to launch Opera by double-clicking the newly renamed file.

If it opens successfullyyou can try renaming it back to opera.exe to see if the fix holds.

If you have tried all of the steps above and the issue persistsplease let us know by replying in this topic.

@TeRVaN I guess it's more of a Microsoft issuesince other browsers are also affected.

But Opera is probably already working with Microsoft to solve the problem.

I am still able to use my opera and my opera gx browsers on my desktopbut for some reason I cannot get it to work on my laptop. I have even tried all these solutions and nothing seems to work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both browsersupdated my laptopcleaned my drives outdefragged my drivesnothing seems to work. I'm hoping that someone can find a solution for thisI have contacted opera support about it as well but can't seem to get a response back. I would like to have the opera browsers back; I love them and much prefer them over any other browser. Unfortunatelyif this issue persists then I will have to find another browser.

@LordMaverick05 Thanks for the info. This is not Opera's issue if the same version works on your desktop PC. What OS are you using on your laptop?
Please try downloading Opera GX from Microsoft store.

@LordMaverick05 I don't see any link there where you can ask for direct supportonly the ones to report issues.
