Whatsapp Web logging out constantly
-
Almost everyday after start upWhatsapp Web logged out and showing the QR-Code for reconnecting. It gets really frustratingbut I don't want to change my Browser again. I am really happy with Vivaldi though.
Does anyone out there has a working resolution for me please

@scharti Are you running Whatsapp in a web panel? What about cookie settingsyou need to preserve Whatsapp cookies to even have a chance keeping your login status.
-
@luetage No I am running it just in a pinned tab. Cookie settings are set to store data generally on my device. Just checked the website data for https://web.whatsapp.com and it stored cookies normal. Played also around with browser maskingbut it doesn't make a difference.

@scharti Just to make surein
vivaldi:settings/privacy/website permissions and global permissions you have cookies set to «allow?» Then it should obviously work. Try to delete cookies and cache for Whatsapplogin again and restart. This seems to be a rather common problem for Whatsapp on desktop. Found quite a few people complaining about it with a web search. Maybe it’s not a Vivaldi specific issue. -
@luetage Website permissions and global permissions are set to allow. Just deleted cookies and cache for whatsapp and restarted. Thanks for your support

I'll get back to you if the problem occurs again

@scharti Whatsapp works very well in a web panel by the way. I have seen it log out occasionallybut it's certainly not happening often.

I don't thinkthere's much difference if you use WA in a normal tab or in a web panel. Because a web panel only is a web site loaded on the left or right side rsp.
I've always found connecting the service works much better in a regular tab. If anyone happens to use WhatsApp in the panelmake sure to use desktop mode (not mobile). -
Just after another restart I am disconnected/logged out again... ufff
I really don't want to switch browser againbut if this can't be solved I have to
whatsapp is essential -
@scharti The only way you get signed out of web sites is if you clear cookies.
Vivaldi does not clear cookies on restart unless you ask it to.Maybe you have some third-party process on your system clearing cookies? CCleaner is known to cause such problems for instanceor other "privacy" related programs.
- Remove Whatsapp web panel
- Log in to the service in a regular tab (not panel!)
- Check you have cookies from the site in Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies. Since WA is a Facebook servicecookies from FB might also be needed.
- Close any WA tabs
- Close and restart the browser
- Do NOT open any WA tab
- Check you have cookies from the site in Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies
- If cookies are gonesomething has deleted them and that's what you need to figure out

@Pathduck Thanks for your reply. I followed your steps and after restarting the browser (and even the system) I checked if the cookies are there before successfully starting Whatsapp web. So it seems to run perfectly goodbut at some unexplainable point I get kicked out... The Website permissions are now back on standard againafter I wiped anything from Whatsappbut before I even avtivated all rights I even could have guessed are effecting the functionality...

@scharti I got the impression this was after every browser start? If not much harder to figure outand maybe it's just "working as intended" from WA's side. I have no ideadon't use it myself.
Others have said they stay signed in so this looks like something on your end.
