Considering a new 2025 Acura MDX Tech package and was concerned about recent Honda/Acura recalls. How solid and reliable are newer Acura MDX compared other other brands like BMW X5 and Lexus for example?

i have a 2023 mdx tech w/ awd at ~18k miles bought Aug 2022and it's been great. Almost 3 years of no issues other than the front knock (fixed under warranty). We are pretty happy with it so far.

We cross shopped a Lexus TX but went with the MDX Type-S because even if we wanted to get the TX there was a recall and a stop sales order due to an airbag recall. Recalls aren't a problem for meits about maintaining long term quality on a given product - I would be more concerned for prevalent problems WITHOUT a recall. Plus the Lexus TX felt cheap compared to the Type S and the gauge cluster was skewedonce I saw it it drove me crazy!

'24 Tech...Wife's car now 1yr in 4K. No issues - happy!
Many MDX's (all gens) since 2002.

Acura products (owned many flavors) not always 100% including service.
You buy the carbut as important in the end - dealer competence.

We have both a MDX and X3. I have a friend who is dumping their X5 due to repair costs .....$3,000 for a sensor? We purchased the X3 as a CPO and was underwhelmed when we had a warranty issue and the dealer told us not to drive the car until we could get in 6 weeks later. Needless to sayafter calling the dealership GMthe car was fixed in 6 hours. Normal things like a battery are $500 due to programming. The radiator failed at 60k. As we bought this well ($$)don't drive it much (5k)it is not an issue. But the minute the X3 becomes problematicit will be replaced. BMW's are great until something breaks. Another friend is replacing his BMW X3 because it needs $7500 worth of repairs at 130k. He bought a Subaru.

The MDX is my eighth Honda product. In every casewe've gotten over 200,000 miles out of them with minimal repairs. They are less expensive to repair and maintain than a BMWdon't break down as much as the German cars. And the parts are much more available.

We seriously considered an X5 before buying the Type S - Ultimately it came down to exactly that.....long term.....the Acura should be less expensive and hopefully less repairs. To be 100% honest.....one of the main contributors of not buying/going with the X5 was/is the inability to check the oil with a physical dipstick.

Something so simplistic to an internal combustion engine that relies on wet sump lubrication.....and you can't physically check the oilyou have to rely on a sensor......seems over complicated to me.

I meanI get it....most X5 drivers ...1 - lease their vehicleso they don't really care long term and ..2 - can't be bothered to check their oil.

No issues at all with my 2022 MDX Advance. A close friend is ready to buy the Type Sbut he hates the look of the rims. He’s decided to wait and see what the 2026 rims look like.

Type S herejust over a year of ownership29,000 milesno issues at all. Couple of small random system bugs show up on the instrument clusterbut no codes thrown. They always reset once the car is turned off then on again.

2022 Type S here with 23000 miles on it. The car has been fantasticbest riding car I’ve ever had. Two issues so fara recall for engine software(10 minute fix) and a TSB for tightening the tie rod nuts)1 day). I did buy an extended warranty for this car since it has Honda’s first airbag suspensionbut so far I love it!
