2025 MDX CarPlay and iOS 18.4

Bought my 2025 MDX Advance last November. CarPlay on iPhone 14 ProMax (iOS up to 18.3) working great. Four days ago upgraded to iOS 18.4 and immediately after CarPlay will not hold the Bluetooth connection. I can connect to Bluetooth and listen to music & make calls as long as I am using the apps on my phone as the interface. Thenwhen I connect CarPlayall the CarPlay apps show up on the MDX screen but as soon as I press on one to make a calluse Apple MapsWaze or SirriusXM it says there is no Bluetooth connection even though the CarPlay screen stays on in the MDX. Sure enoughwhen I check my iPhone under devices the Acura MDX is now listed as “disconnected”. Just to be sure I have gone through this same exercise while watching my Bluetooth connection on my iPhone disconnect as soon as I try to activate an app on the MDX CarPlay screen. Our Acura tech says he’s seen this on 3 other 2025s using iOS 18.4.
And when I connect my wife’s iPhone 15 running 18.3 all is fine. The tech says we will need to wait for Acura to release a software update allowing their CarPlay software on the MDX to properly interface with iOS 18.4. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

We are having similar problems with our 2025 MDX Type S. My wife's iPhone 14 stopped connecting to carplay. My older iPhone 12 works perfectly.
We took it to the dealer on 4/2two different service techs at the dealership spent 1.5 hours trying to get it to connect. Factory reset on both the phone and the car multiple times. Nothing fixed it.
The techs acted as this was the first they've seen do this. They can't understand how we both have the same ios 18.4 and only my phone works on carplay.

I’ve been told that connecting your iPhone with a USB cable does allow CarPlay to still work. But that’s like buying a new Tesla and being told the car is perfect except you’ll need to plug it into a really long extension cord to drive anywhere. Funny thing isBluetooth failed on my 2009 MDX after 5 years so for the remainder of its life I had to connect my phone via a long RCA cable to the rear RCA jacksand then on the other end use a Bluetooth dongle. I’m really tired of grabbing my phone to leave the car and getting yanked back in because it’s still attached via a stupid cable. In 2025.

The techs did try using USB cords. They tried using a cord in each outletincluding the one inside the console marked as Bluetooth.
I appreciate that they spent so much time trying to fix it. But I do not like their non solution. I'm being told that it's not an Acura problemit's an Apple problem. And we need to call Apple to fix it.

I have no problem with iOS 18.4 on iPhone 14. This is potential issue of iOS with specific iPhone model. I recalled back in 2019when Apple released iOS 13it was really buggy and not addressed until version 13.1.x.

I eventually tried connecting to CarPlay using my iPhone 14 with the USB cable into the MDX data port. Still did not work. So basically there is nothing I can do to get CarPlay to work. I guess I’ll just have to use my phone as the interface paired with Bluetooth. Really frustrating.

YES!! I am having the same issue and it is driving me crazy. I have rebooted several times and Siri will work once after the reboot and then stop working again. I called Acura and they did not have an answer for me. Please reply if you find a solution. Alsohave you found a way to control Sirius without having to use touch screen. The screen says I can use Siri but that doesn't work (even when my siri was working it wouldn't bring up the station) and it seems no other controls on the car will work with Sirius. I have found this a little frustrating.

I purchased my 2025 MDX in March and had the same issue. I purchased a new phone thinking it was my iPhone XR. I purchased a 16 Plus and had the same issue. So I called Apple. It was right after the update to 18. They had so many complaints they issued an update 18.4.1 which was supposed to fix the issue. I still have connectivity issues when I get in the car. It’s better but not fixed. As far as changing the XM radiohaven’t been able to do that except going to the main screen. Acura did not include XM in their software this year so doubt they will do anything to fix it.

So I finally fixed it. First tried the Apple 18.4.1 update which was specifically released to address CarPlay issues. Didn’t do anything for meunfortunately. So took it back to the dealership. They tried connecting CarPlay & got the same issue…even tried connecting their own phones…no luck. So we decided to do a hard reset on the entire MDX computer system…I lost every single one of my presets as the whole information system defaulted back to its virgin assembly-line state but low & behold that fixed the problem. Now I can connect to & use CarPlay as intended. Go figure. It’s as if the software got stuck in some defective subroutine somehow (just like Windows 10 does periodically) and now after a hard reboot it’s fixed. It’s the equivalent of reinstalling the operating system but it’s something you “can” do from home. Just not sure if you want to…I took mine to the dealership just to be sure I was doing it right. Hope this helps.

NewtoAcura,
Our 2025 MDX looses the CarPlay and Android APP lights so they will not connect to our phones. ReBooted and they came back for a day and then disconnected and will not comeback after ReBooting again. I think it could be faulty design of the system.

A couple other issues I have had:
Many times I start the car it says no phone connected and asks me to choose bluetooth or carplay even though I was the last to drive and am always on car play. Alsoif I am listening to Sirius or Spotify when I stop the caroften when I restart nothing is playing. Shouldn't it just continue where I left off?

Bought my 2025 MDX in Dec 2024. CarPlay has never connected correctly. On day two (within first 24 hours) of ownershipwe asked for a refund but were told “oh we will get that fixed.” I cannot initiate any contact with CarPlay via voice commands and only sometimes with the voice button on the steering wheel. And sometimes it won’t even connect to my phone that shows it is connected. Have had two factory resetsone phone setting changeTWO hard resets and two days with a regional Acura field tech only to be told “it can’t be fixed at this time and it is an ongoing investigation between Acura and Apple.” Called Acura customer care line at corporate and was told it’s not an Acura problem but an Apple problem and basically we can’t (or more likely won’t) help you. I am beyond frustrated. To buy a new carspend a lot of money…and it’s a piece of junk.
