    Missing Recycle Bin

all of a sudden I can't see the icon of the recycle bin any longer in the left pane of the Windows Explorer screen. I can see it on the desktop but as I keep the desktop normally hidden (clean desktop policy) I don't see it there either.
Can anyone help me recover the missing recycle bin icon please?

    Hello

Normallythe Recycle Bin icon will only show in the navigation pane of File Explorer if you turned on Show all folders for the navigation pane.

Howeveryou could use option 2 in the tutorial below to show the Recycle Bin icon in the navigation pane with Show all folders turned off.

Add or Remove Recycle Bin from Navigation Pane in Windows 10

Now that you have it visible -- I ask you to consider moving it to the Start Menu.

I was Apple only for 29 years and when I finally came to Windows (with 10) I felt that a lot of what I didn't like about Windows was simply aesthetic. (Wellthere's drivers and eyeballing virus and malware stuff but that I've gotten a handle on.) Still -- the thing that bugs me the most about Windows is visual clutter.

To feature a trash can top left just seems... yuck. But to hide it in the Start Menufor merules. Like so --

The minor inconvenience is needing to right click items into the bin... or select and hit the delete key. But to get that bin hidden is worth it to me. I also believe having shortcuts to apps on the desktop is similar clutter when you have an entire start menu to dump things intowhich againis typically hidden. It houses 35 less used apps.

You may have noticed my desktop appears to be empty. Appearances can be deceiving --

Someone in these parts raved silly about AutoHideDesktopIcons. It's an awesome app... and free.

Don't mind me. Just trying to make the MEH a little easier on the eyes. One last thing --

You can have a transparent taskbar thanks to TranslucentTB in Windows store.
