- If you enter the wrong PIN number 6 times in a 30-minute periodyou will be blocked from trying again for 30 minutes. A count-down timer will appear on the screen.
Before you start
Confirm whether your Nintendo Switch is linked to the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls application on a smart device.

Not sure if linked
You can confirm whether the system is linked to the smart device application with the following steps:
- Select System Settings from the Nintendo Switch console’s HOME Menu.
- Highlight Parental Controls and check which options are displayed:
- "Parental Controls Settings"
or "Change Settings"
: Nintendo Switch is not currently linked.
- "Sync with Nintendo Switch Parental Controls App" and "Unregister App": Nintendo Switch is linked.
- "Parental Controls Settings"
Complete these steps

Linked to Smart Device Application
- Access the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls application on your smart device.

Don’t have access to linked smart device
- On your Nintendo Switch consoleselect the red Parental Controls icon at the top of the HOME Menu.
- When prompted to enter your Parental Controls PINenter an (incorrect) 4-digit number six times. The message "Entered incorrect PIN too many times" will appear on the screen.
- Press the + Button or - Button (Help).
- Scroll down to "Forgot PIN" section and make note of the Inquiry Number on the screen. You will need it to reset your PIN.
- Do not back out of the screen where you see the Inquiry Number. If you exit and returnthe Inquiry Number will change and the previous Inquiry Number can no longer be used.
- Reset your Parental Controls PIN using our online tool.
- An e-mail address is required to use this service. If you are not able to provide an e-mail addressplease contact us for additional assistance.
- Select Parental Controls.
- Select Parental-Controls PIN.
- The Parental Controls PIN for your system will be displayed. If you'd like to choose a different PINyou can select Change.
