Early/First Toyota cars + pictures

We are all aware of the Toyota history but for the few who have not seen these. If somebody has more/better pictureswe would love to see them. I have left the CROWN out on purpose as there is another thread just on that.

Two of the pictures below are scale models just so all y'all know.

The year 1936 marked the birth of Toyota Motor's first passenger car. It adopted the popular streamline possessed an ideally balanced load on the front wheeland offered a superior ride which placed it above many foreign cars in terms of comfort. It was an advanced automobile. Moreoverproduction know-how was developed completely in-housea fact which is recognized historically. The accomplishment instilled confidence in domestic carmakers of the time.

Toyota also produced the Model AB Phaeton based on the Model AA. The armynot the publicwas its main user. The AB Phaeton was based on the AA model passenger car and adopted the convertible form of the Phaeton. Most were supplied to the army and very few made it into the hands of the public. From the windshield backthe AB model was completely different from the AA model; the rear doors opened towards the rear,and the rear seats were placed further towards the back. The AB model was produced from 1936 to 1938and a total of 353 units were made. When it was launchedthe sales price was 3,300 yen50 yen less than that of the AA model.
First pickup truck (1935)

This was Toyota's first trucka pioneering feat accomplished by Toyota Motor Corporation's founderKiichiro Toyoda. In order to become a certified company according to the Automotive Manufacturing Industries Law (established in 1936)this unit was rushed to completion and sale. 379 units were produced at a maximum payload of 1.5 tons.

The Corona-based pickup truck was equipped with a widesturdy steel cargo bed. Such light vans and pickups were sold in response to the widening use of automobiles in Japan
Masterline van (1956)

The Masterline gained its popularity by being a commercial vehicle with the same comfortable ride as a standard passenger car. As you can see from the displaythe Masterline Vans worked well as service vehicles at roadside garages. Aside from the light van shown herethere were also pickups and double-cab pickups.
Master Model (taxi) (1955)

At the same time the Crown was on the marketthe Mastera revised and completely red edition of the RH Superwas released with a revamped chassis. Although its features resembled those of the Crownthe Master was aimed at taxi market. To that enda frontsuspension system was implemented with rigid axles increasing the durability and making greater passenger space possible. The car was given a sensible design. As the RS Model began to be used as a taxithis Master disappeared in November 1956.
Thereafter as a commercial model based on this model the Masterline was put on the market.
Very FIRST Corona (1956)

Following the success of the Crownin 1954 Toyota pursued the development of a car which would also serve as a taxi. The Publica was planned under the concept of the national people's car. Howeverit was the Corona that Toyota quickly put on the market to cope with the burgeoning small-car market.
Model SA (1947)

Toyota Motor Co.Ltd. released the 1-litter enginesmall Model SA Sedan in 1947. Aerodynamic body styling was featured along with a backbone frame and a four-wheel independent-suspension system. The standard two-door sedan was a novelty aimed at luring the motorist who was simply interested in driving. Favorable public opinion earned it its"Toyopet"nicknamewhich became its registered trademark in 1949 and loved by many.

Super Model RHN (1953)

The maximum displacement was changed from 1000cc to 1500cc for small-sized car definition in 1953Toyota came out with a 1500cc modelthe Toyopet Super. This series featured increased power 20hprepresenting an exceptional improvement in performance over the 1000cc S engine model. The RHN’s body was built by the New Mitsubishi Heavy Industrial Manufacturing Co.with another RHK model built by Kanto Auto WorkLtd. The Toyopet Super became Toyota’s main model in the market.

And wow againI never knew Toyota were out since the 1930's. I thought they'd came into market in the 50's60's

I believe the Toyota came to the U.S. market in the 50's but yes prior to that they have been around for awhile.:thumbup:
