"Aegis Madison just opened in Marchwhen we went to visit. It was very beautifulbrand newand had several levels of care. They serve all the mealsthey have medical professionals thereand they have a very caring staffvery alert to the patients' and to the residents' needs. It was affordabletoo. Everything worked out very well. It was much more refined and a bit more of a luxurious place.
"
"I visited and I liked it very much. I also stayed there for three days a couple of years back. It has full2-bedroom apartments with full kitchens. The staff was very nicethey have good exercise facilitiesand some games."
"Aegis Living Lake Union was perfect for my husband. It was just a month of respitebut he didn't want to come home. He had a lovely accommodation in that it wasn't down a long and dark hallway or something that looked like a Holiday Inn. It was just such nice accommodation. I would have to say it was expensivebut for the eight years that I haven't had any kind of respite for himwhere I could go awayI figured it was worth it. Aegis Living Lake Union was great. My husband would love to go backbut it was maybe more expensive than we can afford.
I like how professionally they brought us in for the initial moment we arrived. It was family-oriented. They were caring about meand they were caring about him. The whole entryway of the place is conducive to that. It's very welcoming. It's kind of like a special hotel as opposed to just a desk where you walk up. It was lovely. More than one person came from the office and met with us and asked us what we were interested inand they listened. The most important thing was that they clearly listened instead of just putting on a sales pitch.
My husband stayed there like a resident. They gave him an apartment. He had his own bathroom and a place for a refrigerator. They showed us three or four rooms that he could haveand we chose the quieter one. Sohe had a lovely room that looked out on trees and everything. It was good for him. They went overboard with any accommodation. Like he couldn't use the television remote very wellso they got one that had big numbers on itso he could see it better. They facilitated it within minutes of our asking or mentioning that he had difficulty with it. They made callsand in two daysit arrived. That's the kind of service it offers. It was truly amazing.
Overallmy husband thought everyone was fantastic. Whenever I was thereI would say the same. They have a very special chef from the Metropolitan. He was a chef downtown in Seattle in a restaurant everyone knows. He is probably one of the best. The food was so good. He had his choice of whatever. If he wanted a sandwichhe could have it. He can have anythingand they said that 24 hours a dayhe could order from the kitchen.
The building looks brand newbut it's been there for a little while. It's a LEED-certified businessso everything is up to the standards that they have for recycling water. They recycle all their gray water. It's amazing. It's super clean. It's exceptional.
I've visited a couple of othersand I saw what their activities were aboutand what a difference! Herethey have a grand piano in the foyer as you go in there. There is a sort of common area. It's very welcoming. They have a cafe where anyone can walk up and get espressoregular coffeeand tea. You can just go upand you don't have to ask anybody. It's not hard to findtoo.
The way it's designed is that they have big windowsso that the naturethe treesand everything reflect right into the space. My husband is not someone to come and listen to musicbut in the afternoonsthey have a variety of live music throughout the week. Someone either plays the grand pianoor people come in and play violin from the symphony. It was amazing.
Every daythey have these games and things that you could participate in if you want toor you could just sit there and read the paper. They have Jeopardy gamesand they were fun and easy for people to do. A lot of participants came down. Another feature about this is that it has 51% menwhich is unusual. They weren't necessarily impaired. Some wereof coursebut many of them were widows who didn't want to keep up their homes anymore. They knew they were getting into their 80s and wanted to make sure they didn't fall or whateverand so here they cameand it was great. My husband made a lot of friendswhich was amazing."
"Brookdale Admiral Heights was on a really busy street. There weren't any balconiesand there was a small gardenbut it wasn’t cared forso it didn’t look inviting. It was in too busy of an area for my mom to feel comfortable in with too much road noise. The staff was excellent and spent a long time talking to me about everything. I was very impressed.
"
"I went to Aegis Living Ballard. The place was fabulous. It's like living in a hotel. The staff was exceptionally wonderful. They were friendly. They came to usintroduced themselvestold us where they workedand what they did. The dining area was beautiful. Their activities look like a lot of fun. Everybody looked like they were doing thingsand that's what my husband needs. The facility is gorgeous."

"Mom just moved to Empress Senior Living at Laurelhurst Assisted Living and Memory Care. It's a facility that was just built a few years agoand their staff is wonderful. I spent manymany days there with my mom. They are very professional and good. The food was very goodtoo.
In memory carethere are a lot of people who are not very high-functioningso they don't do a whole lot of activitiesbut the value for the money is pretty good. It costs $6,600 a month to be in that facilityand then there are additional costs on top of thatbut I think for what I looked at all overtheir cost was about the same as others. I was so lucky to find that place. They had space availableand they were able to get me in. It wasn't out of reach cost for me."
"I’d give The Ballard Landmark a top choice. It’s beautiful and well-locatedand it is a very-close-to-new facilityso it has a lot of the attributes that having a brand new place has. It’s very lightand being in a place that has a lot of natural light appeals to me.
"
"We met several people at Brookdale West Seattle and they seemed very happy. They were very welcomingniceand very helpful. It's an old building and it reminded me of an old hotelbut it was clean. There's a grassy area around the buildingbut you'd have to go across a busy street to get to the parkwhich does not suit me at all. The food was pretty goodbut the dining area (again it's an old building) has the color that I call kind of institutionalbetween beige/brown/tan. It was cleantoobut I like something that's a little brighter and whiter."
"I toured Island Houseand they have an excellent program and a beautiful facility. The people were nice and they had a lot of extras. The staff was wonderful."
At Emerald City Senior Livingour community's culture is built on helping our residents find their happiesthealthiest selves. After hearing from multiple new residents that they were concerned about getting involved and making new friendswe formed a resident ambassador programwhich pairs each new resident with an ambassador who helps them acclimate to Emerald Cityengage in activities and eventsand volunteer in the local community. A lot of our residents want to stay activeeven during the drearyrainySeattle wintersso we formed an indoor walking club and indoor gardening clubso they can appreciate the outsideinside. We also noticed that a lot of our residents were traveling to doctor's appointments and therapy visitsso now we're proud to offer a visiting physician service along with an in-houseon-site therapy facilityso our residents can get the care they needright hereat home.In shortwhen our residents talkwe listen. "My father is moving in at Covenant Living at the Shores tomorrow. They have been wonderful. We have several family members and friends who have lived there for a few years. My dad is joining themso we're happy.
It's beautiful. It's on the lake. He is moving into a lakeview apartment with full care optionswhich is everything from assisted living to hospice. Sowe're hoping this is the last move for him.
His apartment is beautiful. They completely remodeled it with new carpetnew appliancesand new paint. The food is very good. My father is very excited to just be cooked forso he doesn't have to cook himself. He said the food is very goodand that's what he's looking forward to most. They have a separate lodge with the dining room for breakfastlunchand dinner.
They have a beautiful workout room with a view of the lake. They have music programs. They have committees. You can join a committee and have a voice in the activities and the community. I think there's over 300 residentsand there's always something going on all the time.
They have a program that if you run out of fundsthey will let you stay there. They have a scholarship program that you can stay there till the end of your life. You do pay upfrontbut then you get a percentage back. It's expensivebut it's absolutely worth it. He can stay there indefinitely."
"My parents are in The Bellettini. It's an excellent facility. It's a wonderful facility. They've been there for four years. Their dining facility is niceand their staff is interested and caring. This year with COVIDthey've had extremely limited exposureso other than going crazy in their fully independent condosall is well."
"I toured their independent living section of The Watermark at Bellevueand it's very nice and very high-end. As a matter of factup on the top floorthey have a penthouse there for $12,000 a month. The lower floors are cheaper. For people who like city lifeit's like living in a big city where you have to pay for parkingand that's not my cup of tea. I want something more rural where I can drive indrive outand not have to pay for parking. I'm just more of a suburban type. It was very nicethough. I've been there twiceand their food was excellent. The facilities were very nice because they're newso everything was perfect."
"Northgate Plaza was very nice inside and out. They had taken two studio apartments and made it into a large one-bedroomand I really liked that. It had very nice tall ceilings and huge windows on two ends because it was an end unit. It was very bright and had a very nice walk-in closet and a good-sized bathroom. It was just a very nice apartment. It had a kitchena full-sized refrigeratora stoveand a nice bar area. I just didn't like how it looked out onto a large business/building across the street. There was a nice little park across the street thoughand downstairs was a little fountain area with trees where you could watch the birdsand it was very comforting. The staff was very helpful. I enjoyed meeting all of them. Everyone I talked to was very niceencouraginghelpfuland just highly trainedand the sales people that I talked to were also very good.
"
"We are so grateful for Cogir Kirkland! My mom has lived there for 3 monthsand it's such a relief to know she is safe and well cared for. The community is only a year old--it's beautifullightand well-maintainedplus the rooms are very large. And surprisinglythe food is great!
But the very best part is the staff! They are very skilled and professionalwhile also being super kind and caring. My mom is at the end of lifeand can be "difficult" on top of it. Each staff member works extra hard to ensure she is heard; that she has everything she needs; and that she is comfortable and happy. Cogir Kirkland has a new General Manager that has been successful in implementing new systems and processesand in building a strong and committed team. We are so happy to have them as part of our family!"
"My mom is moving into Patriot Glen Senior Living in Bellevue on Tuesday. I've already seen the placeand I was impressed. It was a very good tourwhich is how I ended up choosing it for my mom. We toured the assisted living part of the facility.
There are people that live there that are just totally independent. You can add on the services that you need or take them offif you don't need them anymore. There are things like medication managementshoweringor whatever you need. They also do have hospice servicesif it gets to that.
You can start out in independent living. There are people that live there who don't have the additional care. They provide three meals a dayactivitiesand things. If your health deterioratesthen you just add on the cost per situation that you need.
It's all in the same areaexcept memory care. Memory care is in a different area next door. In assisted livingyou have your own apartmentand you still have meals with the same dining room.
I've been back there various timeseverybody seems to be enjoying themselves. The food seems like a really nice restaurant-quality meal."
"I had a nice visit here. They were very cordial and pleasant. The whole place was very nice and attractive. It was very clean with a lovely settingand it felt welcoming.
"
"The representative who showed me around was great and very helpful. Rooms were very niceas was dining room. I cannot speak about the food or staff because I didn't have much interaction and did not eat the food. Overlake was out of my mom's price rangeand was a bit too formal for my motherbut even soI thought it was a very nice placeand clean (especially compared to some other facilities I've seen). "
