know this going to be controversial subject and many on here have connections to the oil/gas industry.....when we have hurricane or natural disaster, there are laws preventing stores from gouging customers with price increases for food and other necessities....gas is a necessity also.......why doesn't that apply to gas/oil?

it is supposed to but rarely enforced for some reason.

they go after them if it is a hurricane/tornado aftermath but right now I can't see justification for 4.50 diesel in Texas.

murphys in paris has gone up but not like some of the prices I have seen.

I can ride it out for a couple of months if need be.

Just so we are all on the same page - retail gasoline and diesel is NOT the same as the oil and gas industry. That is like saying an Idaho farmer is in the liquor industry because they use potatoes to make vodka.

it's the speculators in the big high rises in manhattan that are screwing usbuying/selling futures and pricing current to cover their collective arses.

Yes it's justified and nobody sets prices. They bid on it based on supply and demand.
This is tied to Trumps proposed insurance for oil transport ships in the Middle East. Thats designed to lower the risk and keep more ships moving.

Every event that threatens the oil supply changes oil prices. I believe this run up will not last long but it depends on the fighting and threat to the oil supply.

They have the same logobut that is it.

Productionmidstreamrefiningand retail are all separate entities. The only way they are connected is by common ownership under a corporate umbrella. In factmidstream companies are federally regulatedand they cannot share employees or even building space with a production company.

That’s not how gas is priced- it’s priced on replacement cost. Same thing at your roofing wholesalers- they get a price increase and have a warehouse full of stock they are going to raise the price on their inventory- they own it and now it’s worth more money.

I have yet to see anything that would justify a 1.50 price increase in diesel in 48 hrs.

Trump is making sure they have the insuranceescorting tankers with navy vesselsnot a single transfer island or dock has been blown up that I know ofthere is no reason for the sudden increases imo
