How can tariffs be causing a lack of affordability if the inflation rate is 2.4%? It defies logic. Jerome Powell claimed tariffs would cause inflation and refused to lower interest ratesbut eventually even he had to admit that was a false narrative and that inflation had stayed within range.

If the overall rate is 2.4%who is being hurt by tariffsand by how much? What is the ideathat the rate would be much lower or zero without them? That would show a complete lack of understanding of history.

While Democrats are raging against corporate greed and profitsthey simultaneously point out that huge corporations like Costco might be able to sue to recoup money lost to tariffs. The original claim was that consumers would be subjected to soaring prices because of tariffsbut since that didn't happen the focus has turned to corporations supposedly eating the "losses". Now the left that loves to hate corporate greed is fighting for corporations to make more billions. It's utterly dishonestbut dishonesty and BS are central aspects of the Democrat Partyso this hypocrisy fits in perfectly.

The rates during Biden's four years were 4.79.03.4and 2.9%. Were media outlets and "concerned" Democrats wailing about affordability then?

4.79.03.4and 2.9 and now 2.4%. Does that look like a trend?
It didn't start with Trump and we all know why it reached 9%Covid and the massive expansion as we were coming out of it.

Most economists still believe that tariffs will contribute to higher inflation this year. Powell is just one of the masses.

First offRazors numbers were off and I don't know where he got them. The inflation rate Dec 31 to Dec 31 was only 8% for 2022.
I guess he looked for a big number and found one.

You post as if you don't remember 2022. Nothing new here.
Remember lumber and so many other construction materials increased by 2 and 3 times?
An accelerating economy combined with no way to supply the materials which led to skyrocketing prices.
Same thing for gas and noyou don't turn a valve and increase oil production dramatically.

Nowdemonize the economy skyrocketing in 2021 and 2022............it wasn't due to the president.

yeahmaybe in your world.

The 2021-2022 U.S. economy was characterized by a sharp post-pandemic rebound in 2021 (5.7% GDP growth)transitioning into 2022 with highsustained inflation (6.8% increase in 2022). While 2021 saw massive growth2022 was marked by aggressive Federal Reserve rate hikesa temporary technical recession in early 2022and a tight labor market.

I don’t knowfigured this would be the likely ruling anyway and partially already baked into the market limited reaction so far up / down.
The SCOTUS ruling did not eliminate all tariffs any way so not as gigantic as being sold.
