Wikipedia
The project began with the English-language Wikipedia on January 152001. On March 162001it was joined by German Wikipediaand shortly afterwards by many other languages. Large efforts are underway to highlight the international nature of the project.

As of April 2026there are 344 Wikipedias which have over 100 articles182 of which have over 10,000 articlesand 76 of which have over 100,000 articles.
As of April 2026there are 361 language editions of Wikipediawhich collectively have 67,064,619 articles.

On 20 September 2004 Wikipedia reached a total of 1,000,000 articles in more than 100 languages.

On 5 September 2015the Swedish Wikipedia hit 2,000,000 articles followed by the Cebuano (14 February 2016)[1]German (19 November 2016)French (8 July 2018)Dutch (8 March 2020)Russian (18 September 2024) and Spanish editions (2 January 2025).
On 27 April 2016the Swedish Wikipedia hit 3,000,000 articles followed by the Cebuano (14 February 2016)[1] and German editions (25 March 2025).
On 11 February 2017the Cebuano Wikipedia hit 4,000,000 articles.[1]
On 8 August 2017the Cebuano Wikipedia hit 5,000,000 articles.[1]
On 14 October 2021the Cebuano Wikipedia hit 6,000,000 articles.[1]
In 2004 Wikipedia won the Webby Award for "Community" and the Prix Ars Electronica for "Digital Community". In 2015the Erasmus Prize was awarded to the Wikipedia community collectively.
