You asked. We listened. Brazil servers are coming to São Paulo in early 2026!

Today at gamescom latamwe announced that we have broken ground on a new data center in Brazilwhich is slated to go live in early 2026. The new infrastructure will enhance the Roblox experience for millions of users in Brazilproviding improved performance and reduced latency nationwide.

Having a data center in Brazil includes a number of benefits:

How does closer servers = better FPS? I might be stupid for not knowing this.

How come 2026? In early to mid 2024I saw multiple Brazilian servers active from testing phasesso its not like the server space is just being renovated.

Because of connection stutters. Actuallyif your connection stutters too muchyou’re actually asked to update way more things in a short timecausing performance overheads. I meanyesthis seems technicalbut good to know.

Maybe did they have to think a lot about the position? Brazil is bigand you can’t put it in the northern region. Elsethe southern people won’t be happy…

AnywayI do know a lot of people from South America that play Roblox. This is typically the kind of change that the community likes.

That would be fair… if they didn’t already have Brazilian servers. I remember being put into them despite not being anywhere near Brazil.

Would be great if Roblox could have a centre in Africa.
We also suffer from the Lag issue.

Cape Town is likely the best place for such a centre. Stability !
Amazon thinks so - New centre here to serve all of Africa - Roblox can too :wink:

The fact that they said “broken ground” suggests that they’re actually building the physical data center from scratch. It’s possible that the testing servers were just rented from local providers or were generic leased office spaces that housed the test server equipment.

Though I wonder why they’re specifying Brazil since I imagine that this will benefit a large part of South America in generalespecially since São Paolo is very central to the continent (at least in the North/South direction).
