iMessage not so user friendly and got danger it will revert to normal sms or even MMS if setting not correct

Can consider RCS with google messages. Works with imessage.

Android users on Google Messages can now message iMessage users using RCS. Before this only text and low-res pictures. But now it is very close to whatsapp or telegram in functionality.

Google Messages is usually the default SMS app so you do not even need to install anything new.

iMessage limited to iPhone and iPad users only. Plusnot supported by all telcos especially MVNOs.

WhatsApp is cross platform and supported everywhere.

I don't see any advantage of using iMessage at all. Whatsapp is more widely used.

iMessage integrated with all Apple services so is more convenient to share stuffs if your group of friends are all iOS users which in US most people using iPhones …

Some apps are integrated to iMessage for sharing. It is neater and do not need to do it from the 3rd party appfor example i can share OneDrive file direct from iMessage or song from Apple Music or location from Google Maps … so if you are chatting with friend on iMessage and wanna share a musicyou do not need to open Apple Music and copy link of the song and go back share it on the chat app …

In most casesif we want to share certain link and stuffs using the respective app and select which chat app we wanna share it to and to which group/personredirect to the chat app to share… it is never the other way around

This feature requires the app developer to support iMessage access not widely use so most of the app that supports are Apple company app … like Apple MusicApple Cashetc

I still don't see the advantage but since I never use iMessage its hard compare. All of my contacts have Whatsapp so I don't have to be picky when it comes to sending links/files/photos/videos to them. Even those I know using Apple phone will end up using Whatsapp anyway.

iPad got no WhatsApp yet. So use iMessage

I didnt use too but in other countries maybe people there do … just saying they have that differentiation vs simpler whatsapp. Like Wechat in China has a lot of app people use but in Malaysia i bet people dont use those … except basic functions…
