The goal is to reach 500 points before your opponents by forming melds - either sets (three or four cards of the same rank) or runs (three or more consecutive cards in the same suit). The game uses a standard 52-card deckwith each player receiving 7 cards at the start of each round.

During your turnyou'll draw either from the deck or take the top card of the discard pile. You can then lay down melds or add to existing ones on the table. You must always end your turn by discarding one card. When you go out by playing all your cardsyou score points based on the cards remaining in your opponents' hands.

Face cards (JackQueenKing) are worth 10 points eachAces count as 1 pointand number cards are worth their face value. The game continues until someone reaches 500 pointsand players can lose if their score drops below -500 points.

Strategy

Managing Your Hand:

Remember that high-value cards can be a double-edged sword. While they're worth more points when you go outthey also count against you if an opponent goes out first. Try to get rid of face cards early unless they're part of a nearly complete meld. Mathematicallyruns are easier to complete than setsso when faced with a tough discard decisionfavor keeping cards that could form runs.

Keep track of the cards your opponents pick up and discard. If someone takes a 10 of Hearts from the discard pilethey likely either have other 10s or are working on a Heart run. Use this information to avoid helping their strategy with your own discards.

Playing to Win:

Don't forget that runs can be longer than three cards - sometimes creating a five or six-card run is the fastest way to empty your hand. Be strategic about picking up from the discard pileas this reveals information about your hand to opponents. Only take face-up cards when they significantly improve your position.

Pay attention as more cards are discarded. The chances get stronger that your opponents will complete their melds as the game progresses. If someone appears close to going outconsider discarding high-value cards to minimize your point lossunless those cards are part of a nearly complete meld of your own.
