To touch the butt

Helloeverybody

Can you help me understand this expression "to touch the butt"? It is taken from the film "Finding Nemo". Should it be understood as "to touch the boat"? I guess that in that scene the little fish misuses the word "butt"but he means "boat". Or should it be understood otherwise?

Thank you verh much

  • We can't answer your question without some context. What is the complete sentence? What is going on in the scene where the character says it?

    Here is the context:

All the fish members in the community are disallowed to go away from the reef where they live. Some little fish see a boat far away from the reef. One of them is a bold fish and threatens to swim till theresaying"I'm gonna touch the butt."

    I hope this is useful.

    Thanks a lot

They don't know the names of human things.

Tad: I know what that is. Ohoh! Sandy Plankton saw one. He calledhe said it was called a ... a butt.

The "children" (various sea creatures) are in "kindergarten." They've never left home before.

For some reasonnot understood by methe writers thought it was "humorous" to have the words butt and boat confused with each other by the naive little creatures of reef. It obviously was a boat that was touchednot a butt. I didn't see it humorous at all.

It is an American filmaimed at young children. Young American children know what a "butt" is. Touching somebody's butt is naughty. Young children love what might be called "naughty" jokes. The play on words might be hugely funny to a child of 7but fall completely flat for an adult of 70 - as it does for me.

Yes. Even just saying the word "butt" can be naughtyto many kids. I've heard kids of 5 or 6 repeating the word "bum" over and over again and giggling just because it refers to the part that you defecate from.
