Fix problems reading or receiving AOL Mail

If you're having problems viewing and receiving your AOL Mailit could be caused by a few things. Most of the issues can be fixed with a couple of quick troubleshooting steps.

Fix problems receiving mail

If you are able to sign in and read your mailhowever you're not receiving new mailthere are a few things you can try to fix the problems.

Check your filters

Sometimes a filter can cause emails to bypass your inbox and be sent to either the trash folder or a different folder. You may need to check any filters you've created to make sure your messages are correctly organized.

Check your block settings

Make sure the option "Block All Senders Except Contacts" under "Mail Settings --> Block Senders" is unchecked. If checkedyou will not receive messages from anyone not in your contacts.

Learn about delivery delays

Messages are often delivered right way though very rarely there may be a delay in transit. This is usually due to problems on the mail serverheavy internet trafficor routing problems.

Unfortunatelyother than waitingyou won't be able to determine if the message is delayed or undeliverable. If possibleask the sender to resend the message to see if you can get the message a second time.

Check for emails in your Spam folder

If you find emails in your Spam folder that don't belong thereyou'll need to mark the messages as "not spam."

1. Sign in to AOL Mail.

Try again later

If you've tried everything else and you're still not seeing imagesit may be best to try again later. The problem could be caused by server delays due to a lot of people accessing their email at once. Usually this is resolved in just a few minutes.

Be awareif the picture was sent in an unsupported file formatsuch as TIFFyou may not be able to view it. Ask the sender to resend the picture using JPG or GIF file format.

Check the attachments

The image sent may have been sent as an attachment rather than an embedded image. If the image is sent as an attachmentyou'll need to download it before you can view the image.
