There are several components to building your characters in the gamebut the key parts of any expeditioner’s build are called Pictos and Lumina. Here’s everything there is to know about these uniquely-named facets of a character’s ability set.

In Expedition 33Pictos are abilities that can be equipped on each of your party’s characters. As you finish battles with Pictos equippedyou can level them up to earn the abilities as passive traits known as Lumina. Up to three Pictos can be equipped on each character.

When you equip a Pictos and finish battles with ityou can earn each Pictos’ Lumina (“Lumina Learnt” message will pop up after the battles) and then equip them in your Luminas menu. You can then use Luminas in addition to equipped Pictos to further customize and strengthen each character.

While Luminas need Lumina Points to be equippedup to three Pictos can be equipped regardless of the price when it comes to points.

Luminas are passive abilities that you can unlock by leveling up Pictos. These Luminas can then be equipped using Lumina Points from within each character’s sub-menu. You can get more Lumina Points for each character using Colour of Lumina at The Curator in the expedition’s camp.

Here are some examples of Luminas that can be equipped as passive abilities:

  • Immaculate (10 Lumina Points): “30 percent increased damage until a hit is received.”
  • Healing Counter (10 Lumina Points): “Recover 25 percent health on Counterattack.”
  • Energising Break (3 Lumina Points): “+3 AP on Breaking a target.”
  • Augmented Attack (7 Lumina Points): “50 percent increased base attack damage.”

Luminas are game-changers when it comes to strengthening each member of the expedition. Always be on the lookout for Colour of Lumina (purple glowing items) while in the open world and other areas of the game so you can apply as many Lumina Points as possible for your party.

The more Lumina Points each character hasthe more and better Luminas they can equipturning them into a force for a variety of situations and builds in Expedition 33.
