Rules

Euchre is played by 2 teams consisting of 2 people eachwith partners sitting across from each other. The game's objective is to reach 10 points first. At the start of the gameeach player is dealt 5 cards from a deck containing only AceKingQueenJacks10s and 9s. A single card is dealt face-upand players can then accept it as the trump suit or pass. If all 3 players passthe dealer must play with the card being the trump suit.

Players must follow the suit of the lead player. The highest card of that suit wins the trick unless a trump card is played. If a person wins a trickthat person leads the next trick. A team is called the "Maker" team if they choose the trump suitand the other team is called the "Defending" team.

Defenders score 2 points for 3 or more tricksand makers score 1 point for 3 and 4 tricks and 2 points for all 5 tricks. Every player can choose to ignore their partner's cardwhich is called "Going alone". The first team to reach 10 points wins the game.

Selecting Suit:

• If you or your teammate are the dealersremember that the dealer receives the face-up card if it is chosen as trump.
• In generalyou should not "Accept" unless you have at least 2 of the suit being considered.
• Going Alone is riskyonly do this if you are certain you can take at least 3 tricks.

Playing:

• If you chose the trump suitit is generally good to lead with your highest trump. This will force your opponents to play their trump cards.
• You can usually count on your partner for at least 1 trick.
• If your opponent is Going Alonebest to lead a card with a suit that you have several of. This gives your partner a chance to trump over your opponent.
• Make sure you keep track of which cards are playedespecially the two Jacks.
