GRT意思是总吨位。
总吨位减去为船员居住区、船舱、燃料舱、机舱、驾驶台、物料房和压舱等所保留空间的立方英尺数额，也就是船体在上甲板下（或者船舱所谓围蔽空间）的实际载货容积，按每100立方英尺（约2.83立方米）计算。
总吨位是计算港口费、系缆费、码头停泊费等的依据。
