Throughout American historythere have been 46 different individuals who have served as U.S. presidentbut there have been 48 presidencies due to two presidents serving non-consecutive terms.
Grover Cleveland was the firstserving as both the 22nd and 24th president (1885–1889 and 1893–1897)with Benjamin Harrison holding office in between.
Donald Trump became the secondserving as both the 45th and 47th president (2017–2021 and 2025–2029)with Joe Biden serving in between. Cleveland and Trump remain the only presidents counted twice in the official presidential numbering system.
