Clean Launcher User Guide

On first launch or resetClean Launcher will offer to create an /Auto Mods folder inside your /Mods directory.

Anything you drop into Auto Mods is handled automatically while Clean Launcher runs in the system tray. Archives are unzipped if neededmods stay in Auto Modsand non-mod files are sent where they belong — Tray files go to /Tray and Saves go to /Saves.

There’s no manual unzipping or copying required. For quick accessyou can pin Auto Mods to Windows Quick Access and drop files in as you download themready to test or organize later.

Clean & Launch deletes temporary cache files and error logsthen launches The Sims 4 in one click.

You can optionally clear the cache only when your /Mods folder has changedor open the EA App if you need to be in offline mode. You can set the app to remember your selectionstoo.

Scan Mods checks your /Mods folder for common issues that can stop mods from working correctly or cause unexpected problems in-game.

It looks for buried script fileszipped mods that haven’t been extractedduplicate filesand incorrect game settings—then offers to fix what it finds. Nothing is changed without your confirmationand you’ll always see exactly what’s being addressed.

Running a scan is a quick way to catch problems early and keep your /Mods folder cleancompatibleand ready to play. It currently tracks all my (midnitetech) modsand lets you know if you have an outdated versionor are missing a dependency.

Organize Mods gives you a livefolder-tree view of your /Mods directoryso you can see exactly how everything is laid out in real time.

You can drag files or folders to reorganize themcreate new folders on the flyand use Ctrl+click or checkboxes to select and move multiple items at once. Changes are applied instantlyso what you see is what’s actually in your /Mods folder.

If you make a mistakeUndo Last Move lets you roll back your most recent action—no hunting things down or starting over.

Mod Profiles let you save different mod folder setups and switch between them safely and easily.

Your current /Mods folder is stored as your Default Mods—a protected backup of your usual setup. You can then create additional profiles for testingupdatesor lighter play s and switch between them with a single click. Whatever is in your /Mods folder when you hit Create New will be your new Profile.

If changes are detected before you switch profilesClean Launcher will prompt you to save themso nothing is lost.

Mod Profiles make it easy to play while waiting for updatestesting new modsor just for seeing if you really can go without that folder of CC you've been hoarding since 2014.

If you need to replace the contents of a profileyou can do that from Mod Profiles → Morewhere you can also see your backupsrestore your originalor change your backup location. All profiles and backups are stored outside your Sims 4 folders and can be restored at any time.

The Backup feature lets you create a safecompressed copy of your ModsSavesTrayor everything at oncestored in a location you choose.

Clean Launcher packages your files into a zip archivemaking it easy to keep organized backups before updatestesting new modsor making big changes. Your original folders are never altered during the process.

Large folders may take a while to compress.

Before uninstallingmake sure Clean Launcher is fully closed. If it’s runningright-click the Clean Launcher icon in the system tray (by the clock) and choose Exit. You can also disable Start with Windows from the tray menu or from Settings in the main menu.

Once closeduninstall Clean Launcher as usual from Add or Remove Programs in Windows.

If you’ve enabled Clean Launcher to start with Windowsthe auto-start entry can be removed either from the tray menu or via Settings before uninstalling.

Your ModsSavesTray filesand backups are not deleted when you uninstall.

Does Clean Launcher modify my game files?

No. Clean Launcher works only with your ModsSavesand Tray folders. It does not modify game files or core installation data.

Is anything changed without my permission?

No. Actions like backupsprofile switchesscansand fixes always require confirmation. Clean Launcher won’t delete or move files silently.

Why does my antivirus flag Clean Launcher?

Clean Launcher is a smallunsigned Windows utility that interacts with your ModsSavesand Tray folders. Some antivirus programs flag tools like this due to heuristic scanningnot because the app is malicious.

Clean Launcher does not include malwarespywareor data collection. If your antivirus blocks ityou may need to add an exception or allow it manually. You’re also welcome to scan the installer or executable with VirusTotal for additional reassurance.

Can Clean Launcher run in the background?

Yes. You can set Clean Launcher to start with Windows using the ⚙️Settings icon in the main menu. When enabledit runs quietly in the system trayand features like Auto Mods remain active.

What happens if I close Clean Launcher?

Clean Launcher will run in the tray unless you exit it or don't have autostart enabled. When it isn’t runningbackground features like Auto Mods won’t be active. You can relaunch it at any time—or enable Start with Windows (⚙️Settings) to keep it running automatically.

Where are my profiles and backups stored?

Profiles and backups are stored outside of your Sims 4 foldersin a separate location managed by Clean Launcher. This keeps them safe from game updates and repairs.

You can see their location by right-clicking Clean Launcher in the tray and choosing Open Installation Folderor from the More menu in Mod Profile Manager.

Will uninstalling Clean Launcher delete my files?

No. Uninstalling Clean Launcher does not delete your ModsSavesTray filesprofilesor backups. Everything remains exactly where it was. Disabling Auto Mods will prompt you if you want to delete the folder itselfand it's contents.

Is Clean Launcher Windows-only?

Yes. Clean Launcher is currently available for Windows only.

Scan Mods is telling me I have buried scripts when I don't?

Create a Full Report from the Settings menuand check the path of your Mods folder. If it doesn't read '\The Sims 4\Mods'you need to set your Mods folder path (⚙️Settings).
