If you have set up Hide My Emailyour private relay email should forward to your iCloud email address and emails should appear however you read mail from that account.
Here’s an older set of instructions supposedly from Set up and use Hide My Email in iCloud+ on all your devices - Apple Support but I cannot find them in that document.
Set up and use Hide My Email on your iPhoneiPador iPod touch
Your device must have iOS 15iPadOS 15or later.
1. On your iPhoneiPador iPod touchopen Settings.
2. Make sure you’re signed in with your Apple ID. If you areyou see your name at the top of Settings. If you don’t see your nametap “Sign in to your [device].”
3. To keep your personal email address privatedo any of the following:
* In Safari: Open a websitetap in an email fieldthen tap Hide My Email above the keyboard to generate a new random email address or use one you’ve already created for the website.
* In Mail: (iOS 15.2iPadOS 15.2or later) Open a new message windowtap the From fieldthen choose Hide My Email in the pop-up menu.
* In supported third-party apps: (iOS 16iPadOS 16or later) Open an apptap an email fieldthen tap Hide My Email above the keyboard to generate a new uniquerandom email address or use one you’ve already created for the app.
* In Settings: Tap [your name] > iCloudthen tap Hide My Email. You can see and manage all your uniquerandom addresses.
