After a long three-year hiatusNetflix viewers have finally returned to Hawkinswith a slew of new characters joining the original group. The first four episodes of Stranger Things season five have been releasedfollowing the gang as they hunt down the season four villainVecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).
While Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) is preparing for her inevitable confrontation with the monsterthe rest of the group devise their own strategies to aid the mission. Viewers are then introduced to the foul-mouthed newcomer Derek Turnbowwho is seen tormenting Holly Wheeler by speeding up the playground carousel while she's on itreports the Mirror.
It later transpires that Vecna has set his sights on Derekprompting the group to plan his abduction in an effort to save him and locate Vecna's hideout. Their scheme falls throughbut Derek is soon recruited to go undercover as 'Delightful Derek' in a bid to salvage the mission.
Many Stranger Things fans have been singing the praises of the new charactertaking to social media to commend the actor behind the emerging favourite.

Jake Connelly is an American actor who made his breakthrough in Stranger Things 5. Prior to joining the Netflix seriesConnelly's only IMDb credit was a short film titled Between the Silence.

How old is Stranger Things star Jake Connelly?
Connelly is just 13 years old and was approximately four when the programme first aired. Howeverhe managed to catch up on the science fiction sensation several years back. Chatting to The Wrap at the fifth series premierehe disclosed: "I started watching it a good couple of years agoprobably around when Season 4 came out."
"As a familywe sat down every night and watched an episode before bed. It was just so fun seeing everything that my mom grew up with in the '80s," Connelly continued. Despite being a newcomerConnelly received a warm welcome. During the same chathe told The Wrap that the leading starBrownwas especially kind.
He recalled: "I gotta sayone of the first days of the table readMillie Bobby Brown called me over to her [trailer] and - my mom had no idea where I went - I was just there with Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi just chilling it upjust talking. And she said'Oh yeahwe were all your age when we started. If you ever need anythingyou can just call us.'"
Brown was just 12 years old when she first appeared on our screens as Eleven. The English actressnow aged 21has since become the face of Netflix's Enola Holmes mystery thriller franchise. Her co-starsFinn WolfhardGaten MatarazzoCaleb McLaughlinand Noah Schnapp were also aged between 11 and 14 at the time of the show's premiere.
