Audacity is tested on Windows 10 & Windows 11and may also work on Windows 8.17 and Vista. Both 64-bit and 32-bit versions are available. Audacity has no specific CPU or GPU requirements and should be able to run on any notebook or PC that can run aforementioned operating systems.

Note: Audacity requires fastuninterrupted access to a hard drive or SSD to operate. Network storageconsumer-grade external hard drives or USB thumbdrives may be unreliable.

Windows on ARM notes

Audacity for Windows ARM64 (WoA) is in beta. At this timeit comes with the following caveats:

Audacity for WoA requires Windows 11 or later. Windows RT is not supported.
Plugins (VSTOpenVINOetc.) are not supported.
It requires an WoA-version of FFmpegthe regular installer does not work.
It was not thoroughly tested with all features and workflows due to a lack of devices – your feedback is welcome.
