In the 2023 seasonMay pitched admirably for the A’samassing 21 saves while maintaining a 3.28 ERA. During the 2008 Major League Baseball draftthe Philadelphia Phillies selected May in the fourth round. Before the start of the 2011 seasonBaseball America ranked May as the top prospect in the Phillies’ organization.

In December of 2012the Phillies sent Trevor May and Vance Worley to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for Ben Revere. His major league debut was on August 92014against the Oakland Athletics. May spent six seasons with the Twinsamassing a 4.44 ERA across 215 games and 316 innings pitchedstriking out 367 batters and maintaining a 1.304 WHIP.

Following the 2020 seasonMay signed with the New York Metsinking a two-year contract valued at $15.5 million. In 2021he recorded a career-high 68 appearancesboasting a 7-3 record with a 3.59 ERA and 83 strikeouts in 62 2/3 innings.

Despite challenges in the 2022 season at age 33May bounced back impressivelyconcluding the year with a 5.04 ERA but showcasing a strong 2.16 ERA in the final month. In May  2022a stress reaction in his humerus placed him on the 60-day injured listbut he successfully returned to the mound on August 3. May’s two-season tenure with the Mets resulted in a 4.00 ERA across 87 and two-thirds innings in 94 appearances.
