Overview
Recognized as one of the most ornate facilities in the countrythe Majestic has long held a special place in the archives of Texas theatrical and architectural history. Located at 224 E. Houston Street in the heart of downtown San Antoniothe Majestic was designed and built in 1929 by John Eberson for Karl Hoblitzelle’s Interstate Theatresand stood proudly for many years as the largest theatre in Texas and the second largest motion picture theatre in the country. It was intended to be the most modern and ornate building in South Texas – complete with new sound and projection equipment – and was the first theatre in the state to be totally air-conditioned.

Audio Description brings the theatrical experience to those who are blind or have low vision. Using a single earpiece connected to a radio frequency headsetpatrons can listen to a trained audio describer narrate the visual elements of the performance. Live Audio Description is available upon request for the season. These requests are subject to the availability of an interpreter and are provided at the discretion of management. American Sign Language interpreted performances are provided upon request for patrons who are deaf or hard of hearing. Open Captioning is a text display located close to the stage that scrolls words in synchronization with the performance. Open captioning performances are scheduled for the first Sunday Matinee performance of each show. To purchase please call the box office at 210.226.5700.
GalaPro is available for select Broadway In San Antonio events. Patrons using the app can now enjoy the show with closed captioning on their smartphone. All services are provided in real-timeusing voice recognition technology.
