How to type in Malayalam using English Keyboard — QWERTY keyboard?

To start typing in Malayalamjust type a word as it is pronounced in English. This would then be transliterated into Malayalam. For exampleif you type “nan ninne snehikkunnu”it will be converted into “ഞാൻ നിന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു”.

If the transliterated word is not what you expectedsimply click on the word or use the backspace key to see more suggestions in a dropdown menu.

What is the difference between Malayalam Translation and Malayalam Transliteration?

Malayalam Translation tells you the meaning of wordssentencesor phrases in another language. For examplethe translation of “India is a multicultural country” would be “ഇന്ത്യ ഒരു ബഹു സാംസ്കാരിക രാജ്യമാണ്” in Malayalam.

Malayalam Transliterationon the other handworks on phonetics. It does not change the meaning but helps you write Malayalam using English letters. For exampleif you type “intya oru bahu samskarika rajyaman”it will be converted into “ഇന്ത്യ ഒരു ബഹു സാംസ്കാരിക രാജ്യമാണ്”.

In short:
