I rarely write reviewsbut this app honestly deserves it. As someone who creates and posts content almost dailyI’ve gone through dozens of editing apps — most of them either limit you behind paywalls or hit you with ads every few minutes. This one is completely freeno subscriptionsno hidden upgradesand somehow still offers better tools than most paid apps.The UI is clean and easy to learnand it doesn’t crash or lag when working with longer clips. The transitions are smooththe text and sticker options are solidand I was surprised by how good the color grading and filters are. Everything exports in high qualityand there are no watermarkswhich is huge.It’s rare to find something this useful with no strings attached. If you’re making content for Instagramthis app is a no-brainer.

As someone with 25 years in web and UI design and extensive experience with various editing appsI was excited to try Instagram’s new ‘Edit’ app. It turned out to be a massive disappointment. The only slightly redeeming feature is easy access to Instagram musicbut everything else falls flat. The app prioritizes pointless features like tracking ideas and inspiration—something nobody needs from a video editor—while completely neglecting essential tools like reversing clips or applying common filterstransitionsand effects. It claims to offer high-quality footage and 4K exports without watermarksbut that’s a bare minimum expectation. The core functionality is severely lacking; it feels like a rushedunderdeveloped product that’s nowhere near ready for prime time. If Instagram wants to compete with heavyweights like CapCutthey need to bring something innovative to the table. Right nowit’s just a half-baked imitation that fails to deliver anything new or worthwhile. If you’re serious about video editingstick to what you know works. Instagram should focus on improving their main app and put developers’ time into fixing existing bugs instead of wasting resources on a half-hearted attempt to compete

One thing that I do wish might be improved in future updates is that you get some sort of numeric guide regarding your text sizing. The sizer does not change itself from clip to clipwhich is helpfulbut I would still like to know how many pixels/percentage big my text is so that I don’t make editing errors if I’m having to do several things at once and get out of the text box. Otherwisefantastic job and thank you so much for providing this for free.
