I called State Farm yesterday. They have a no-deductible policy for drones. Here is how it went for meas most State Farm reps might not know how to set it up.

The policy is called Personal Articles Policydrones will be classified under the miscellaneous category. The cost for me was $75/year i was covered immediately. I had to send them my ebay invoice.

I found an agent from this page:

I've used State Farm Personal Articles Policy for three years now. Have no complaints. Never had a claimthough. All my other policies (homeautoetc.) are with USAA. you don't have to be an established State Farm customer to get the Personal Articles Policy.

Caveat: My understanding is that it is for PERSONAL ARTICLES ONLY. If you have a Part 107 ratingyou may not be eligibleso be sure to check before applying.

I'm a big fan of this State Farm policy for your drone as a suitable substitute to DJI Care Refresh for your most expensive DJI drones. Not only is the premium inexpensive but also the payout for a claim is usually based on your receipt. I was cancelled in 2020 for filing one claim (may or may not happen to everyone) and I think I'm going to try again after waiting 5 years and when I get my Mavic 4 Pro later this year. It's a great policy to have even if you have DJI Care Refresh.

This isn't available everywhere so don't be surprised if your agent can't do it for you but use the details above to help them out should they need further guidance.

I believe CA is the only excluded state for purchase purposes. Odd.

Let me know how you make out.. They won't insured me 5 years later.. One $1100 claim for in over 10 years. I pulled all my Policy's from them over this,.

Just to reiteratethe State Farm personal article policy for drone protection is for recreational flyers only. You cannot make a claim under Part 107. **edited** I should’ve said I’m looking into a commercial policy nowbut they’re making me jump through all sorts of hoops in the underwriting process. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

Massachusetts+Rhode Island too.I had a claim covered for a lost at sea drone 4 years ago.Didn't get canceled.Only insurance I have by State Farm.I've heard but can't confirm that a claim may affect your homeowner rate even though it's not insured by SF.

I had a State Farm rider on my camera equipment. When I filed a claim for a theftthey cancelled the policy. To be fairthey said it was because my camera pack was on the ground behind me when it was stolenso I didn't have control of my property.

Has anyone tried to register their Adorama-purchased Mavic 4 Pro with DJI to have it covered under their warranty?
You don't need to register your drone with DJIyou only need to register with the government (in the US).

Your warranty goes into effect when you activate the drone.

I had State Farm on my regular camera gear for years. Then I bought a $10,000 lens and they dropped me saying no hobbyist would spend $10K on a lens and I had to be a pro..ga.

YeahSF is very funny about their personal article policies. I filed a claim for a stolen Manfrotto tripod with a replacement value of about $350. After the claim was settledI got a call from my agent whoin a roundabout waysaid: Don't file any more claims under your PAP for a whileor we'll have to drop you. ;-(

I get it. The policies are usually $50-$60 bucks so really cheap. Perhaps they should charge more Ha

Yesyou're right if you're only insuring one or two items under the personal articles policythey are inexpensive. What I find annoying with my carrier is that I have multiple policies with them. You'd think they wouldn't get upset over a $350 claim. I'm sure they don't like PAPs because there is no marginwhereas home or auto plans have lots of ways to cut corners on payoutswhile charging a bundle on premiums.

I have a commercial policy through my business insurance. It is about $300 a year but it covers replacing the drone and any damage I might do with it. They would only insure me after I got my 107 card in hand.

I had a State Farm Personal Articles Police about 10 years ago for my Phantom 4. I filed a fly away claim and after they paid it outI received a letter saying my policy was cancelled. Once my Mavic 4 Pro arrives I am going to reach out to them again and see what happens.

Bear in mind that when State Farm tells you that your policy has been cancelled that is specific to the serial number of the unit that was lost. When I requested new coverage for the serial number of the replacement drone (a Mavic 3 in my case) they had no issue adding this to my policy.

For the record this is part of my personal articles policy that includes all of my camera gear.

That's not what happened to me. I crashed the Mavic 2 Zoom and they cut me a check and cancelled that policy and when I bought the Autel Evo II Prothey gave me the new policy and then about 3 months inthey cancelled with the reason.
