If you're experiencing no audio on HDMI monitors and the system does not recognize the speakers on the monitor's audio output portthere are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check Connections: Ensure that the HDMI cable is securely connected to both the monitor and the PC. Sometimesa loose connection can cause audio issues.
    2. Set HDMI as Default Playback Device: Right-click the speaker icon in the system trayselect "Playback devices," and check if the HDMI output is set as the default device. If notright-click on it and select "Set as Default."
    3. Update Audio Drivers: Make sure that your audio drivers are up to date. You can do this through Device Manager by expanding the "Soundvideo and game controllers" sectionright-clicking on your audio deviceand selecting "Update driver."
    4. Check Monitor Settings: Some monitors have their own audio settings. Ensure that the volume is turned up and that the monitor is not muted.
    5. Run Windows Troubleshooter: Since you mentioned that you ran the troubleshooter without successensure that you are using the audio troubleshooter specifically. You can access this through Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Playing Audio.
    6. Test with Different HDMI Cable/Port: If possibletry using a different HDMI cable or connecting to a different HDMI port on the monitor to rule out a faulty cable or port.
    7. Check for Windows Updates: SometimesWindows updates can resolve compatibility issues with audio devices. Make sure your system is fully updated.

If none of these steps resolve the issueit may be worth checking if the monitor itself has any known issues with audio output or if there are specific settings that need to be adjusted.

HiI am an independent advisor and welcome to Microsoft Q&A.

Let me help you with this issue.

If the Troubleshooter doesn't workwe need to remove the Audio driver from the Device Manager and restart the PC to reinstall it.

Here are the steps to completely remove a Device from your computer.

Step 1. Use shortcut keys Windows key + X.

    Step 2. Select Device Manager.

Step 3. Expand the entry SoundVideoand Game Controllers. Right-click the problematic devicewhich is either Realtek Audioor AMD High-definition Audioor High-Definition Audiodepending on the audio device installed in your PCand select Uninstall device.

Step 4. You need to check the option Delete the driver software for this device and then click the Uninstall button.

    Step 5. Reboot the computer.

After the rebootplease see if the problem is fixed.

If that still does not workplease visit the support website of your laptop or desktop and then download and install the latest Audio driverthen restart the PC.
