Samenvatting

In de Amsterdamse pilot ‘Sparen Loont!’ kregen schuldenaren een maatje aan het eind van hun schuldsanering om hen te stimuleren (weer) te gaan sparen en nieuwe schulden te voorkomen. De pilot werd opgezet op basis van wetenschappelijke en praktijkkennis omtrent de betrokken groep en haar gedrag. Tijdens de pilot bleek echter dat vrijwel alle deelnemers zich dermate onzeker en onveilig voelden over hun inkomenssituatie dat er eerst andere dingen moesten gebeuren voordat zij aan sparen konden gaan denken. Er is behoefte aan steun tijdens en/of vlak na een schuldsaneringstraject. Niet alleen hulp bij het omgaan met geld en het op orde brengen van de financiële situatiemaar ook hulp in de vorm van morele steun. Het accent is in de pilot daarom verschoven van sparen naar hoe nazorg na schuldsanering vorm en inhoud zou moeten krijgen. De inzet van een maatje is gezien de reacties van de deelnemerseen welkome en zinvolle manier van nazorg.
