Harbor Freight Bench followup

The Harbor Freight bench I bought for my reloading and gun maintenance room is done. I cut 6" off the length to fit my space better and eliminated the vice. Here it is set up for reloading.5a53b9c7d6b9f_1-8-18010.JPG.9cc46429ab080ec43c707ffa709952fa.JPG

All the reloading equipment goes in the drawers when not being used and becomes just a work area for maintenance and cleaning.5a53ba24813c1_1-8-18011.JPG.6d8b2b338f10d026059325f07ee635af.JPG

It works well and the only drawback is the cheap drawer slidesso what did I expect from HF Blum? Eventually they will be replaced with Blum full extension.

Thanks for looking.

I'm glad that worked outI'd like to replace what now functions as my reloading bench with something more suitable. Buying one of them would be cheaper than building one. I'll have to give them a looksee the next time I'm in town. I can't tell how much lip there is on the front of the benchbut it doesn't look like the press arm has the room to move in front of the drawers..of courseI know it can. But it does look close.

FredThe top overhangs the drawers by 1-1/2". The linkage on my press (Lee) clears by 1/4 ". The drawer that is blocked by the press holds the pressdies and related Items so there is no need to open it when the press is being used. As you can see I eliminated the lower shelf to keep large items underneath and will use that material to make an extra shelf on top of the bench. I also fastened it to the wall for stability.

You're better disciplined than me Joe...flat surface = "hey lookI'll just put this here for now":P

Great job on the re-purpose especially for the money. Looks great. Sowhat did you do with the vise for the end?

I'm not as disciplined as you might thinka month from now it will be as cluttered as most of my flat surfaces. As for the vice I am going to try to work it in to the woodshop some how.

Great job making that bench work for you. Thanks for the up date.

Andnever let a good vice go to waste.

Or a half-fast one!

John -_-

i should wander down to my shop and grab a pic of my reloading bench.  made of two drawer cabinets (left behind by former owners)topped by plywood (double 1/2") with laminate on top of thatand a 4x4 under the press to provide stability to the press.
