3 Luzon dams release water due to heavy rains — PAGASA

State weather bureau PAGASA said Wednesday three dams in Luzon continued to release water amid heavy rains due to the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat and a low pressure area (LPA).

According to PAGASAIpo Dam in Bulacan and Ambuklao and Binga Dams in Benguet were still releasing water as of 8 a.m.

Ipo Dam opened one gate at 0.2 meters as its reservoir water level (RWL) reached 100.17 metersslightly lower than its normal level of 101.10 meters.

Ambuklao Dammeanwhileopened three gates at 1.5 meters each as its water level eased to 750.70 meters from 751 meters on Tuesday. Its normal water level is 752 meters.

LikewiseBinga Dam opened two gates each at one meter. Its current water level was at 574 meterslower than its normal water level of 575 meters.

Heavy rains continued to persist over parts of the country due to the effect of the Habagat and the LPA.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms is forecast over the rest of Luzon and Visayaswhile partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may prevail over Mindanao.
