Radiohead - Creep Lyrics

Radiohead - Creep Lyrics
Official

When you were here before
Couldn't look you in the eye
You're just like an angel
Your skin makes me cry
You float like a feather
In a beautiful world
I wish I was special
You're so f*ckin' special
But I'm a creep
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here
I don't care if it hurts
I wanna have control
I want a perfect body
I want a perfect soul
I want you to notice
When I'm not around
You're so f*ckin' special
I wish I was special
But I'm a creep
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong hereohoh
She's running out againoh
She's running out
She runrunrunrun
Run
Whatever makes you happy
Whatever you want
You're so f*ckin' special
I wish I was special
But I'm a creep
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here
I don't belong here

(Show video at the top of the page)

"Creep" is the debut single by the English rock band Radioheadreleased on 21 September 1992. It was included on Radiohead's debut albumPablo Honey (1993). It features "blasts" of guitar noise by Jonny Greenwood and lyrics describing an obsessive unrequited attraction.

Radiohead had not planned to release "Creep"and recorded it at the suggestion of the producersSean Slade and Paul Q. Kolderiewhile they were working on other songs. They took elements from the 1972 song "The Air That I Breathe" by Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood. Following legal actionHammond and Hazlewood were credited as co-writers.

Kolderie convinced Radiohead's record labelEMIto release "Creep" as a single. It was initially unsuccessfulbut achieved radio play in Israel and became popular on American alternative rock radio. It was reissued in 1993 and became an international hitlikened to alt-rock "slacker anthems" such as ''Smells Like Teen Spirit'' by Nirvana and ''Loser" by Beck. Reviews of "Creep" were mostly positive.

EMI pressured Radiohead to match the successwhich created tension during the recording of their second albumThe Bends (1995). Radiohead departed from the of "Creep" and grew weary of itfeeling it set narrow expectations of their musicand did not perform it for several years. Though they achieved greater commercial and critical success with later albums"Creep" remains Radiohead's most successful single.

It was named one of the greatest debut singles and one of the greatest songs by Rolling Stone. In 2021the singerThom Yorkereleased a remixed version with synthesisers and time-stretched acoustic guitar.
