Moderated Social Features

Miacademy isn’t just a curriculum; it’s a community! With parent permissionstudents have the opportunity to chatmake friendsand create groups in a moderated environment. 

This optional feature is 100% secure and is actively monitored by our site managers. It provides a safe space for children to learn how to interact online safelyexpress their creativityand make friends with other children their age.

Some of our community features include:

• Chatting with other members by posting and commenting on each other’s statuses
• Writing articles and stories for the weekly newspaper
• Purchasing and taking care of pets on our K-8 sites

Our moderation team screens every wordvideoand design that students makeand it must be approved before other users can see it. You can view our moderation guidelines here. This ensures our social environment is as safe as possible. 

Your child’s safety is our top prioritywhich is why all Miacademy sites are compliant with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). This means our site managers have taken extra precaution to make sure that your child’s information will never be monitored or tracked for any reason.
