I received an email notification yesterday that our flights had changed. After changing to a better flight than what they had originally offeredour confirmation codes have changed. Is this normal? Usually they just change the flights and keep the confirmation codes.

Do you mean your Record Locater code?

Nothe actual six digit alpha code. I caught it when I checked my trips on the Tripit app. I had both the old flights/old confirmation code listed on Tripitplus the new flights/new confirmation code. The emails that I received from Hawaiian last night referenced the old code in the subject linebut clearly have a different code within the body of the email. It is so weird. Hawaiian has been really messed up for months - and they all seem to be IT issues. This makes me nervous but I will just keep an eye on it. To be fairthe flights have all changed so maybe they considered this a new reservation? So odd.

Ohh ok..my daughter and fiancés Inter Island Hawaiian Airline flight in September was changed by 12 minutes and the airline sent her a email of the change and the Record Locater stayed the same..She booked the flight through Hawaiian Airlines…thanks for the clarification.

Usually on HAwhen the flight number changesyou will receive a new 6 digit record locator. If the flight number stays the same but the time changesthe record locator stays the same.

Thank you! Good to know. I was concerned that things got messed up when I called last night.

BTW….my daughter sent me the email and Hawaiian Airlines called it a Confirmation Code…not a Record Locater

HA is really annoying with the flight time changes! I have October flights and they have changed three times alreadyby just 5 minutes here and there.

Our change was over 2 hours and they defaulted to the earliest interisland flight which then resulted in a 3 hour layover on Maui. Fun times and first world problems all at once. ;)

Record Locator = Confirmation Code = PNR = same thing.
A difference can sometimes exist between an airline’s code and a third-party agency’s own reservation code - but those agencies usually provide you with both.

I read elsewhere that a recall notice is affecting Hawaiian Airlines - that engines for one of their airplane models (?A321neo) require to be checked. So HA is having to cancel and reschedule some flights entirely to comply.

It’s not unusual for an airline to cancel one booking’s tickets and create a new booking with re-issued tickets. It’s happened to me before when there’s been a significant change to my flights.

The would be the Resord Locator .... If the old flight was effectively cancelled and a new flight booked it wouldn't be unusual for a new RLN to be issued for the new flight and new ticket numbers wouldn't be a surprise either
