If I reset iPhone end to end encrypted datawhat will I lose?

I can’t approve my current iphone on my old one because it’s broken and can’t be turned on. It says that if I can’t approve it I can reset my encrepyted data. What does this mean / do exactly?

I have been having the same problem! I was getting the "Waiting for Approval" death spiral on both my mac and my iPhone. I finally just went for the Reset Encrypted data plunge on my phone and it worked. All it does is reset your keychain. Photostextsand all others still intact. I was then able to approve my computer off my phone and everything seems to be running smoothly with no more annoying notifications about re-logging in to iCloud. Thanks for nothing apple. Scary notifications like "will remove all end-to-end data" with no explanation stopped me from doing this for 2 months!

according to the this page iCloud security overview - Apple Support

These features and their data are transmitted and stored in iCloud using end-to-end encryption:

  • Home data
  • Health data
  • iCloud Keychain (includes all of your saved accounts and passwords)
  • Payment information
  • Siri information
  • Wi-Fi network information
i've reset my data and there no big loss of personal information except app data from siri and wifi network passwords. u'll loose other data like saved payment data icloud chain data home data and health apps data if u have any of em.

Having read through this whole threadI took a chance and reset end-to-end encrypted data. This was really sloppily doneApple! This is why I don't use the Cloud for anything but my calendar. I'm an IT specialist and yet I had no idea what would happen if I did the reset. Would I lose my calendar info? My contacts? What a hassle! Both my phone and my computer were stuck. I just upgraded to Mojave so I thought I'd do as the pop-ups insistently suggestedand now I regret it. Apparentlythe only thing that was reset was my keychain. That could be a huge hassle for some people. I've never been able to understand how Apple can be so great and so horrible at the same time.

I've been having this problem too and notifications keep popping up on my phone which is really irritating. I decided just to reset it and hope for the best out of frustration. I did no lose any messagesphotos or anything like that. I was also able to approve my computer from my phone once I reset encrypted date on my phone.
