Before you begin

There are two ways to link your bank account.

  • Plaid: We recommend using Plaid to instantly link your bank accounts. Plaid allows you to quickly and securely connect your bank accounts without the need for manual verification (while also preventing typos).

  • Manual verification: The manual verification process can take up to 4 working days (excluding weekends and holidays). If you choose to verify your bank account manuallySquare transfers and withdraws a small verification amount. Sometimes this transfer and withdrawal may be processed simultaneouslyso you’ll need at least £1 in your bank account before you start the verification process.

You can link and edit your bank account from your Square Dashboard or the Square Point of Sale app. Linking via Plaid is available on the Square Dashboard only.

Square requires a current bank account (an account that allows for both transfers and withdrawals) to support refunds or chargebacks. Prepaid cards or online-only accounts (such as PayPal) aren’t supported.
