Addressing community feedbackwe’ve introduced the ability to automatically generate STL files from print profiles (3mf) for models that lack STL files. This caters to users who prefer STL downloadsexpanding accessibility. Initiallythis feature applies to newly uploaded modelswith gradual rollout to existing ones.

  1. Enhanced Print Profile Compatibility

MakerWorld now intelligently detects the required build volume for each print profile and generates a list of compatible printers.

For instancean X1C print profile for a small/medium-sized object will be compatible with A1 minienabling printing via Bambu Handy.

This feature is currently available for newly uploaded modelswith plans for expansion to existing ones.

This is a welcome additionthough I feel it should be accompanied by an option to exclude printers from a profile. Build volume is not the only metric for creating a separate print profile. In several instancesI have created profiles specifically for the A1 Miniparticularly because it is a bed slingernot just due to its build volume. The current approach to this topic detracts from these specific profiles and might lead users to choose subpar print profiles for their setups.

@MakerWorld You forgot three announcements.

  1. Collections can now be used for marketing

You may add a descriptioncover imageand tags to your collection.

This was one I banged on about for a while. It’s almost perfectit needs re-ordering capabilities.

  1. User can now follow individual collections.

A user visiting your collections can now use the [Follow/Unfollow] button to follow new entries to your collections. You see a follow count per collection.

  1. Default collection

You can now choose a collection to be your default choice that appears at the top of your collection list when you go to add a model to one of your collections.

That is coming.

We were told using a different thread by @Tanklet that it has been added to the list.

I would like to have Bambu Studio include a mask (or gridlines) optionally displayed to allow profile creators the ability to visualise the maximum size of the minimum volume available if they wish to make their non-A1 mini profiles fit on the A1 mini as well.

Agreed and I’m not sure this automatic generation will work. I’m worried these automatic profile generations will result in a lot of bad reviews and cause much more frustration than convenience. Case in pointI just tried to print an oloid posted on MW that claimed to be made for A1 mini. It only had a miniscule brim and I was 100% sure it would fly off the bedand it did :stuck_out_tongue:

With regard to build volume sensingwill you ignore plates that are spaced for print by object? This may stuff up a print if there needs to be printed separately.

From what I can tell from looking at my own modelsA1 Mini compatibility applies only if the outer bounds of all parts as a group are smaller than the Mini’s build volume. This means that the spacing between items remains unaffected.

Because they aren’t identical models as the name of each explainsas does the product descriptions.

As different people have different preferences on how they wish the mechanisms workI designed one for each of the most common.

  • Gyro has fixed pins between the outer sections so the direction of spin is forced at 90° to the body and spins within the modeleach subsequent section spins at 90° alternating angles. This is known as gyroscopic motion. The centre section is entirely free-spinning. This makes this a combination .

  • Spinner has no fixed sections and all sections are entirely free to spin in any direction with no limitations. This makes this a spinner .

  • FullGyro has fixed pins on all sections and no free-spinning centre. This makes this a full gyro .

Three different mechanisms for three different user’s preferences.

It is like having a penpencil and markerthey all writebuteach is used for something very different. They may look the samebutthat is a surface-level judgement rather than their actual purpose or differences.

I prefer traditional spinnerspeople asked for gyrosI made gyro versions with a spinning centreother people asked for full gyrosI now make full gyro versions.

I also provide 7 print profiles for each one.

  • Coloured edgesmost popular . AMS & PAUSE
  • Three equal colours. AMS & PAUSE
  • Two equal colours. AMS & PAUSE
  • Single colour

This means each time I design a new oneI actually need to design three with seven profiles each.

21 printed versions so I can guarantee they work and have a evidence of a successful print for each.

I just do what they ask of me. Some are popularsome are very popularsome are barely looked at.

Two questions:

  1. What happens after download count is over 10,000? Does a new cycle start from 50?

  2. If downloading a model (I assume this also applies to downloading 3mf) and then printing it counts as 3 downloadsshould opening in Bambu Studio to print it or printing directly using the Handy app also counts as 3 downloads?

That would be nicebut no. The table is merely an illustration to help understand how downloads translate to points. The point multiplier of x0.3 for every download above 1,000 remains unchanged.

10,000 downloads = 3,191 points
20,000 downloads = 6,191 points (3,191 + 10,000 * 0.3)
50,000 downloads = 15,191 points (6,191 + 30,000 * 0.3)
…

Open in Bambu Studio + successful print = 3 Downloads
Successful print via Handy App = 2 Downloads

That’s currently how it’s being done. But I am asking MW if a direct printing should also count as 3 downloads. so as to be consistent.
