How to Create a Hyper-V Manager shortcut in Windows 10

The Windows 10 ProEnterpriseand Education editions include the Hyper-V virtualization technology. Hyper-V enables running virtualized computer systems on top of a physical host. These virtualized systems can be used and managed just as if they were physical computer systemshowever they exist in virtualized and isolated environment. Special software called a hypervisor manages access between the virtual systems and the physical hardware resources. Virtualization enables quick deployment of computer systemsa way to quickly restore systems to a previously known good stateand the ability to migrate systems between physical hosts.

Hyper-V Manager is an in-box tool for diagnosing and managing your local Hyper-V host and a small number of remote hosts. Hyper-V Manager is available through Programs and Features as Hyper-V Management Tools on any Windows OS with Hyper-V included. Hyper-V Platform does not need to be enabled in order to manage remote hosts.

The steps I used in Windows 11 (not 10) were slightly different:

Right-click on desktop > create shortcut. Its location:
    %windir%\System32\mmc.exe virtmgmt.msc

    Its name:
    Hyper-V Manager

Right-click on that newly created shortcut > Properties > Shortcut tab > Change icon button > look for icons in:
    C:\Program Files\Hyper-V\SnapInAbout.dll

If that puts you into the wrong directorynavigate manually to the address just stated.
    Select the blue stack icon.
    OK out of that.

On the desktopright-click on the shortcut > Pin to taskbar.
    Delete shortcut from desktop.

For some reasonthis approach gave me only an icon on the taskbarwithout an accompanying label (e.g."Hyper-V Manager").
