    Random Auto-Locking of Computer Screen

So for some reason my computer is at random intervals going to the lock screen. Sometimes it immediately goes to lock screen after unlocking (no password) it by pressing Enter twice it logins in again and then again goes back to the lock screen sometimes within anywhere from 1 to X seconds after login.

I have tried disabling sleep options. And also reinstalled windows from a new bootable USB ISO I got from Microsoft. But after running it for a while it started experiencing the same automatic locking.

I also tried another pc screen and the same issue. I then brought in a new computer and connected to the Sony TV screen which my old computer was connected to and now that computer has the same issue. I then connected the new computer to the pc screen and it works fine. So then I connected the old pc to the pc screen and it still had issues. It seems more common when connected to a TV. I have also tried a different HDMI cable.

Any suggestions? Can someone explain what is happening or how to even diagnose this issue?

    Welcome to TenForums!

By any chancedo you have Dynamic Lock enabled?

Check Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options. On this screen you should see an item called "Dynamic lock". Make sure that is not turned on.

    Disconnect the Sony tv.
Connect the old computer, with the problemto the pc screen and the internet.
    In Powershell >as administrator,run ---dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth ---and when finished,still in Powershell,,run--- sfc /scannow---.
Then go to Settings>system> power & sleep and in that page,,check the options are set to Default.
Whilst on that page, select Additional power setting and on the Active Power Plan, select "change plan setting" and change "Display Timeout" to Never.
Also check through Reliability History to see if there are entries covering the problem.
TV sets are not always reliable Monitors.

Nobody suggested checking out Event Viewer?

When your computer randomly lockssearch forand open: Event Viewer

    Under Windows LogsCheck out:
    • Application
    • Securityand
    • System

See if you can find something that states anything that could be related to your computer locking. The newest events are listed at the top of each sectionso finding an event log would be pretty easy to find. Hopefully we can find what is causing the computer to lock.

I attached the desktop to a pc monitor and still issue exists. I also ran all the commands and they were successful without problems. I changed the settings as well. And I checked reliability history but no related events are recorded. The problem is still happening unfortunately. It was a pain to type the commands with the pc logging off every few seconds. Even tried to boot in safe mode but the issue also is there too.

I found it under security there was an Audit Success of Task Category: log off. But there are not much details on what is causing it. What more of information do you need to further diagnose it from here?

    A couple things to try:

Try booting into safe mode and see if the problem is still present.

In additionit might be worthwhile to see if only your user account is affected. If you have another user account on the systemtrying logging on with that account to see if that is affected as well. If you don't have another active accounttry enabling the actual "administrator" account and logging on with that account to see if the same thing still happens.

If the new pc is working without any problemsthen are you able to clone that drive to a clean drive which is suitable for use in the old pc?
Macrium Reflect, free or paidis a good programme to use for that.
The details which you provideappear to indicate a problem with the software rather than the hardware and could be connected to your previous re-install.
Cloning is a quick and simple method of proving it,one way or another.

I tried booting in safe mode. And created new accounts with admin privileges. The issue still remains unfortunately.

The new pc is only working on the pc monitor but not with any of the TVs.

Would cloning overwrite the installed serial keys for Windows 10? I don't want to lose access to the license key. I mean I did use a fresh ISO from Microsoft to do a fresh install and once again by Resetting the PC.
