The Oscars® are the pinnacle for lovers of filmartistry and storytelling. And nowYouTube is partnering with The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to bring this esteemed tradition to a global audience.
Beginning in 2029the Oscars® will broadcast exclusively on YouTube for free globally and on YouTube TV in the U.S.plus feature red carpet coveragebehind-the-scenes contentand Governors Ball access. Google Arts & Culture will also provide digital access to select Academy Museum exhibitions and help digitize the Academy Collection.
As YouTube CEO Neal Mohan said“Partnering with The Academy will inspire a new generation of creativity and film lovers while staying true to the Oscars’ storied legacy.”

Expressive captions are now available on YouTube videos in English across all devicesproviding our viewers a more immersive content experience by displaying the intensity of speech in all capsexpressions of sounds like sighs and gaspsas well as noises from the environment.
YouTube videos in English uploaded after October showcase these expressive captionsand we’ll continue rolling this feature out on more videos.
Expressive captions use AI to communicate things like tonevolumeenvironmental cues and human noises from the audio playing on a device.

How to find your YouTube Recap
Make sure you are signed into your primary YouTube account (the one that has your personal watch history) and follow these steps:
- On Android or iOS: Open the YouTube app and tap the You tab at the bottom of the screen. Look for the Recap banner and tap it to start your story
- On Desktop browser: Visit youtube.com/recap to access your recap directly
How to find your YouTube Music Recap
You’ll see your top artists and songs as part of your YouTube Recapbut if you’ve listened to at least 10 hours of music on YouTubeyou’ll also get a see a link that takes you to a deep dive on your year in audio in the YouTube Music app.
How to share and save you YouTube Recap
- Share: Want to show off your stats? Tap the Share button on any of your recap cards to post it to your social or send to your friends
- Save: Tap the Download button on any card to save it to your device
