Not sure of other usersbut my Plex App on my Samsung TV plays music from my librarybut does not play other media content (Series - Movies)no matter quality. TV is connected via ethernet cable and I disabled all firewall and or DNS filtering (got my own pi-hole running) but those never caused an issue.

The Plex Samsung App can see the library and all metadata without problemsbut cannot reproduce medias (except for audio)

I have fully reset the TV to factoryreinstalled all appsand initially it can play media until the TV finishes updating (after full reset) but as soon as that happensthe error comes back and never goes away.

I’m running the latest version of the Plex Media Server on Docker (from linuxserver Docker repository)on the last version of Ubuntu Server. I know the post says Windows-Server as a tag/flare but this is a Tinzen/Plex compatibility issuenot where the Server is running on (for what I have read all over the internet)

Any other device works perfect (smartphonesdesktop appbrowserand users I share can see any content on everything but my Samsung tv)

I’ve been using Plex pretty much everyday for the past 4 years with the same device and everything was fine. 3 days ago I started having playback error. I passed the error log to llama3 and it said this:

Of course AI did not help at allbut at least gave some direction (Tizen)

HoweverI keep getting the Playback Error

I tried the same fixes that are all over the internet and the previously mentioned by leos247 before me.

Fixes I’ve tried: (that did nothing)

On the Samsung TV app:

Deleting and installing the Plex app
Resetting the Samsung TV to factory defaults uninstalling everything and reinstalling all again  
Login out and logging in
Turning off the TV for 5 minutes
Allow/Prefer Insecure Connections set to Always
Direct Play and Direct Stream On and/or Off (nothing changes)
Force direct play Off
Disable Bitrate Limiting Off
Original quality and Trans-coded (less quality) no changes
Disable “Cinema Trailers” option (Settings > Player Experience > Cinema Trailers > Don’t Play)
Disable “Quality Suggestions” (Settings > Video > Quality Suggestions)
Reset the app a few times

On the desktop website (server side):

Deleting and installing the Plex Media Server
Deleting the libraries and setting them up again
Enabled “Automatically adjust quality (beta)” (Account Settings > Plex Web > Quality)
Allow/Prefer Insecure Connections set to Preferred

Other things I tried:

Adding my local network to plex:

  1. Go to: Settings > Network > List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth: e.g. 192.168.1.1/24 (server is sitting on 192.168.1.110 and the TV is sitting at 192.168.1.80) gateway of course is 192.168.1.1 so this should work.
  2. Add my IP range: 192.168.1.1/24
  3. Restart Plex Media Server

This did not work.

  1. Forced direct play

This did not work.

  1. Restarted Plex Media Server Docker Container.

This did not work.

You have done the electronic version of running around and smashing everything with a hammer.

It is 2025 and security is important. All clients and the server need to be logged in and server claimed. Just a matter of time before the Music will require secure connections.

The most misused and abused setting get rid of it.

Your Plex Media Server docker is not in host modeyour pihole is doing dns-rebinding protection.

Hi Tiebieriusthanks for replyingyesI’m in the mood of breaking everything that says Samsung with a hammer. haha.

DNS has been disabled. Enabling or disabling it does not changes anything.

My local network it’s secured from outside connectionsboth the server and the client are in the same subnetconnected to the same switch via ethernetboth getting IP’s from my DHCP

The server is claimed and recognizable and fully working from any other device except for the tv.

The music still works without issues on the tveven after re-installing everything.

Docker compose file shows Plex running in host network.

All devices can see my serverthe TV included (it can load and see all metadataplay shows songsand play music files)is just that the TV does not reproduces Video files.

it’s been 4 days of testing and reinstallinglogging out and logging indeleting cachesenabling and disabling featuresbut problem is consistent.

I have deleted the network configuration after trying it and not getting any results from it.

I have downloaded the latest versions of everything as mentioned above.

I do not have a “cannot play from remote server error” anywhere I can see.

My error message is the one in the title. Still not fixed after the network configurations you proposed in your post

I was only reporting what was in your logs.

At this point since it is limited to the Samsung tv and they released an update that may be having an issue will leave it there.
