Join ACS for part two of a two part screening of "13th". "13th" is a documentary directed by Ava DuVernay that discusses the American prison-industrial complex and the intersection of race and mass incarceration. The title of the film is derived from the Thirteenth Amendmentwhich abolished slavery and involuntary servitudeexcept as punishment for criminal convictions. The documentary contends that this loophole has continued the system of involuntary servitude in America through prison labor. Discussion to follow the screening. Light refreshments will be provided.
