Millions will begin to thaw out this week as temperatures rise a good 20-40 degrees above average. Monday will be the warmest day with highs in the 70s reaching as far north as Nebraska. A cold front will knock temperatures down a bit Tuesday and Wednesdaybut temperatures will still be well above average. Even during extended freezing temperaturesice can be dangerously thin in random areas. Once in water this coldhypothermia becomes the immediate threatwith the body shutting down in minutes. All three victims were pulled from the water and transported to local hospitals.
