What does AAA stand for?
AAA stands for the American Automobile Association. The organization got its start in 1902 when nine independent motor clubs across the country banded together to create a national motoring association.

TodayAAA is a federation of affiliated motor clubs with more than 1,000 offices throughout the United States and Canadaserving more than 61 million members. You probably know that AAA offers outstanding roadside assistance to AAA Members in a jam. But did you know since its startAAA has advocated for safeefficient highways and has offered services to make car ownership and travel more enjoyable.
Is AAA a nonprofit?
AAA is a not-for-profitfully tax-payingmutual benefit corporation. We have no shareholdersand our mandate is to serve our Members.
Who owns each club?
Each AAA club is an independentnot-for-profit membership organizationchartered and incorporated in its own state and controlled by its own Board of Directors.

Now with more than 4 million Members we continue to impact the community in new ways both on and off the road.
