UnfortunatelyI can't say i've hunted the delta.
I spend a lot of time there skiing and wakeboarding but not hunting yet....

I just can't bring myself to subjecting my ski boat to the grind of a hunt.
I guesse I need a hunting boat as well :)

cheers

I hope my house don't get blown up for this.

The north delta has been known to hold a few birds later in the season.
I know a few guys that killed a bird or 2 down south.
those guys in the Antiock area are posting moderate results.
I saw a bunch of spoonys and coots out by Pittsburg last season.
I'd start here...... http://www.delta.ca.gov/atlas2.asp

Really the best advice I can give you is to get a good map of the delta and a good road mapbuy about 10000 gallons of fuel and start scouting.
The one thing I've learned with duck's is that. they are where you find'em.
Another bit of free advice is to BE SAFE. that river dont care who you are
if you screw up it will take youyour boatall your gearand anyone else you have with you down to Davey Jones locker. remember you are not only dealing with the normal river currentyou also have the tide to considerthis is not the Truckeebelieve me the tide DOES change the flow of the river. 3' white caps with a rippin tide at O-dark 30 in a storm is not something you want to take lightly. Make sure you have enough boat/motor for the water you plan on hunting. There are many area that are 1' deep or less at LT with a 15' shear drop "SURPRISE!"
do any scouting at LOW tideon nice days. know what your getting into BEFORE you you launch in the dark.
ALWAYS and ALWAYS and ALWAYS wear you PDF.

Good luck and be safe
