Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptionsaccount settingsand billing information.
Unexpected Microsoft 365 charges are usually caused by one of these:
- A Microsoft subscription with recurring billing enabled on the card
- Someone else (family memberanother user) using the card to buy a subscription
- A previously declined charge that was later processed
- An in‑app or related purchase that bills as Microsoft
To investigate and stop further charges:
- Go to the Manage your payments page of the Microsoft account dashboard and select Investigate next to the charge: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2246882. This walks through common causes and shows which subscription or order is tied to the charge.
- If a Microsoft 365 subscription is found and it was not intendedcancel it:
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365 and sign in with the Microsoft account that owns the subscription.
- Find the Microsoft 365 subscriptionselect Managethen select Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancelthen Cancel).
- After cancellationcheck if the subscription is eligible for a refund by following the steps in How to get a refund on a Microsoft subscription.
- If the charge truly is unauthorized (fraud)use the Investigate flow above andif neededcontact Microsoft Support from there or dispute the transaction with the bank/card issuer.
If the charge is on a card but the account cannot be accessed (for exampleno sign‑in details)the card issuer can block further payments and help dispute past ones.
