As he faces a string of controversies in his personal lifeactor David Harbour has spoken about finding fame on the Netflix show

Stranger Things star David Harbour is currently embroiled in a series of scandals in the aftermath of the release of his estranged wife Lily Allen's latest album and her allegations that he was unfaithful during their marriage.

As all eyes are on the star's personal lifehe has been refreshing candid in an interview with the Spanish version of Esquire magazine. In the November edition of the publicationDavid50explains his relief at finding fame later in life sharing how it's allowed him to be more respectful of the spotlight. The interviewer asked him'Stranger Things premiered when you were 41. Is it easier not to become a jerk when fame comes a little later in life?'

In responseDavid said: "For me it certainly is. I think the traps of youth are so bound up with the idea of self-importancethe traps of fame are so bound up with self-importance. The great thing about getting famous when you're older is that you know you're going to dieso who cares?[Laughs]."

He added: "You get to enjoy it moreI thinkinstead of try to preserve it or control it or hang on to it. You take it so seriouslyit defines you and you have to chase it. "

He went on to add: [Whereas] it's just likeOhthis is a nice little treat. We'll just ride it and see what it has to offerbut not get lost in its wilds of self-importance."

Since the release of his estranged wife's studio album last monthDavid has been caught in a media storm following Lily Allen's allegations of him cheating within their marriage.

The couple first met on the celebrity dating app Raya in 2019 and wed the following year.

And while there have been a few raised eyebrows when it comes to Lily's allegationsa report recently surfaced claiming that some of the material on her album was not directly linked to David.

A source reportedly told the Daily Mail that some of the songs on the album were penned four years agowhich was at the time her relationship with David was going from strength to strength.

Those who worked on the album have described it as a PR stunt. By her own admissionLily has said that her album was "autofiction" and confessed to using "poetic licence."

The insider told the publication: ""Some years ago Lily wrote a reallyreally honest album about men she had come into contact with who weren't exactly nice to herit was nothing to do with David; this was all taking place when they were deliriously happy. But this is where West End Girl stemmed from."

They continued: "Thenpeppered inare clear references to the breakdown of her marriage to actor David but by no means is it all about himthough Lily has been very happy to allow that narrative to continue and bash David."
